The palace, on 107 Calea Victoriei, will be renovated in a 150 million Euro investment plan which includes art galleries, luxury and antique stores and cafes.
The project is designed by Vladimir Arsene and will cover 36,000 sqm, of which 18,000 sqm will be used for retail spaces and the rest for housing units. An Antique Gallery will be built in front of the palace.
Stirbei Palace was built in the fist half of the 19th century as residence of Stirbey-Bibescu nobility.
Seized during Communism, between 1982 and 1994 it hosted the Romanian Ceramics and Glass Museum.
The building, now declared a historical monument, was returned back to the heirs of Stirbei family and bought in 2005 by businessman Ovidiu Popescu, CEO of energy company Petrolexportimport.
