Late payments are bitter pill for medical system
Parallel exports, the claw-back tax and the late payment directive are the three biggest problems that the Romanian drugs sector is currently facing. Players say the market is ill, and The Diplomat - Bucharest asked drugs producers and authorities what remedies they suggest

"First of all I think we should see the base from which we're starting in terms of drug consumption per capita in Romania," Sorin Popescu, coordinator of the communication group at ARPIM (the Romanian Association of International Medicines Manufacturers), tells The Diplomat - Bucharest, adding that Romania currently allocates around EUR 60 per capita to drugs subsidised by the State, much less than the European average of EUR 260, leaving the country in last place in Europe.
