Enel to complete EUR 2.7 million Neptun modernization

Enel Distributie Dobrogea has completed modernization works at its Neptun primary station (high/medium voltage) in the Dobrogea region. The works required a total investment of more than RON 12 million (EUR 2.7 million)

"The Neptun station is one of the central points of the electricity network, serving customers in the southern area of the coast in the Constanta area," said company officials. "The station has been in operation for more than 35 years. On average, in summer months it registers load peaks of 11 MW, so it was necessary to modernize its equipment."
The station's capacity has been increased by 25 MVA (Megavolt amperes) with the installation of a new 110/20kV transformer. It will supply enough available power in the medium-voltage network for the Neptun, Jupiter, Saturn, Venus and Olimp stations and also for households in the villages of 23 August, Pecineaga and Mosneni. The site supplies power to the medium-voltage station of Mangalia Naval Site. At the same time, there will be an available reserve of capacity of over 30 MVA, which can serve other consumers, in the event of network failures.
The project is part of an extensive modernization program carried out by Enel in Romania. The company is Italy's largest power company, and Europe's second biggest listed utility firm by installed capacity.
