The Liberals and the Democratic Liberals merge into a new alliance

The Democratic Liberal Party (PDL) and the Liberal party have merged and the new party will be called the Christian Liberal Alliance (Alianta Crestin Liberala), as announced by the democrat liberals' chairman, Vasile Blaga. The newly-born alliance will function in the PDL′s traditional headquarters in Modrogan Alley 1, Bucharest. The merger details were discussed during the party congress held on July 26. According to the Democrat Liberal leader, the statute of the new party considered very carefully the two former parties′ clear paths until July 26 in observing the rule of law state and the EPP values of dignity, justice, freedom and solidarity. "We won′t keep any of the documents secret; we will make public the statute of the new party, the merger protocol and our political programme as soon as we decide who will be our candidate running in this autumn′s presidential elections," said the PDL leader. According to Vasile Blaga, one of the two parties is to give the presidential candidate′s name while the other will select their option in the run for the Prime Minister.
