The contract has a 70-month length, out of which four months are assigned for design, 18 months for execution and 48 months for the guarantee period. The segment represents the first stage of the Bucharest-Brasov motorway. The motorways in Romania total 700 km at present and will be expanded by 90 km this year, according to Narcis Neaga, general manager of CNADNR. According to the official, the segment linking Nadlac to Arad will be completed in 2015 and the second segment of Timisoara-Lugoj will also be ready this year.
The Romanian government passed a memorandum in February regarding Romania's General Transport Master Plan, a document establishing that the total investments needed will reach up to 45.45 billion Euro until 2030 for various road, rail, maritime and air infrastructure projects, according to Minister of Transportation, Ioan Rus.
As for the maritime sector, three billion Euro are to be invested in the harbours of Constanta, Galati, Drobeta Turnu Severin, and others, as well as the fairway. Also by 2020 a total of seven international airports are planned to be upgraded and others to be opened to international flights or made regional airports. Moreover, the Plan includes ten multimodal centres worth 281 million Euro.
