Matching leopard printed bags and shoes, ethnic patterned dresses, snakeskin stilletos and Prada trainers step into town as Italian luxury boutique Mengotti opens.
Yes – it’s all genuinely Italian. In 1889 Giovanni Mengotti opened a hat store in Bassano del Grappa, Italy. His son Giussepe then turned the store into a clothes business and expanded into Breganze, Valdago, Padova and Castefranco. This is the chain’s first store in Bucharest.
Located on the capital’s only boulevard qualified to hold luxury retailers, Calea Victoriei, the store showcases clothes, shoes and accessories from Prada, Valentino, Dolce and Gabbana and Fendi behind its lavish golden door opposite the Hotel Novotel.
Inside real Italian shop assistants help guests size up matching shoes, bags, jewels, belts and watches to create a luxury branded look in the wall to wall mirrors. There is also a first floor dedicated to menswear with Versace and Giorgio Armani suits and shoes, accompanied by French representative, Dior Homme.
