Mr Markiyan Kulyk is the new Ukrainian Ambassador to Romania, replacing Mr Yuriy Malko.

Mr Aurel Ciobanu-Dordea has been appointed the new head of the Government’s Department for European Affairs. He replaces Mr Adrian Ciocanea.

Mr Marius Tuca is the new general manager of daily newspaper Jurnalul National, while Ms Gabriela Vranceanu-Firea has been appointed general manager at business weekly Saptamana Financiara. Previously, Mihai Craiu held both positions.

Ms Cornelia Coman, 33, has been appointed as the new general director of ING Life Insurance Romania starting 1 October. Ms Coman started working for ING in 1999 and since 2006 was deputy director of ING Life Insurance.The former general director, Mr Bram Boon will take over the management of ING Life Insurance Greece, after running the Romanian subsidiary for four years.
Mr John Morahan has been appointed the new Ambassador of Ireland to Romania.

Mr Ajing Adiant Malik has been appointed the new Ambassador of Sudan to Romania.

Mr Andreas Paul Hoehne, 41, is the new head chef of the InterContinental Hotel, replacing Mr Kai Uwe Klenz, who has left to a five-star hotel in Bangladesh. A German national, Mr Hoehne has worked in similar hotels and resorts in Germany, Hungary, Egypt, China and Philippines.

Mr Septimiu Stoica, former president of the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB), has joined the international law firm Salans as a counsel, with a specialist role and knowledge in capital markets.

Mr Mba Ama Mba is the new Nigerian Ambassador to Bucharest.

Mr Steven Pepa has been appointed as counsel with law firm White & Case Romania. Canada-born Mr Pepa is the president of the Canadian Business Association and previously worked as a lawyer for Linklaters and Wolf Theiss in Romania.

Mr Laszlo Oszkar Fuzes has been appointed the new Ambassador of Hungary to Romania.

Mr Fawzi Mohamed Elsaid Gohar is the new Egyptian Ambassador to Romania.

Romanian quartz compound stone producer Robstone has appointed Mr Berk Kuter as its CEO.

Mr Clayton Powell is the new head chef at the Athenee Palace Hilton Hotel, replacing Mr Martin White, who has moved to a five-star hotel in Sibiu. Mr Powell previously worked for Hilton Amsterdam, London and Mallorca and was last posted to the Hilton Prague.

Mr Irineu Slatineanu is the new metropolitan bishop of Oltenia region and the new archbishop of Craiova. This position is ranked third after the leader of the Romanian Orthodox Church, the Patriarch. Mr Slatineanu, aged 51, was born in Perisani, Valcea county and became a monk in 1983. The new metropolitan bishop studied theology at the University of Bucharest and has a PhD in theology at the St. Serge Institute in Paris.

Mr Dorin-Liviu Nistoran, a businessman specialised in telecom and an independent member of Parliament, has been appointed  president of the IT&C regulators ANRCTI. When appointed, Nistoran was a shareholder in two IT&C companies Televoice and Netcom and is an ex-general manager of three IT&C companies: Net Com, Global Net and Avenir Telecom. Departing president Mr Dan Georgescu was sacked by Prime Minister Tariceanu and is contesting the sudden decision, which came two weeks before a crucial contest between three companies for a new mobile phone license.

Mr Angelos Coursoumis will be taking over as CEO of advertising firm DDB Bucharest. Mr Coursoumis has worked for McCann Erickson, Bold Ogilvy & Mather, Fortune BDDP and moved to DDB Athens in 2000 as executive general manager.

PricewaterhouseCoopers Romania has appointed three new partners, bringing its total to 15. These include Ms Donatela Cazanacli, partner in advisory services, specialising in transaction services, Mr Daniel Anghel, partner in indirect taxes, and Mr Kenneth Spiteri, partner in assurance services.

Mr Catalin Pena is the new editor-in-chief of daily newspaper Ziua. Previously, Pena was deputy editor-in-chief at the paper.

Director of InterAmerican Fond de Pensii Mr Radu Craciun is the new president of the Romanian Association of Finance and Banking Analysts (Asociatiei Analistilor Financiar-Bancari), a non-profit association .

Mr Ioan Bala has been appointed general director at the National Administration of Prisons in Romania, replacing Mr Gheorghe Spaiuc. Previously, Bala was director of the Timisoara Prison.

Mr David Brodetsky is the new general manager of Swedish ventilation systems, steel components and building materials company Lindab Romania. Mr Brodetsky said the company is interested in future acquisitions and investments in countries such as Romania.
